Nicole Jodie Hill

Paralympic Volleyball & Ice Hockey

Sport has always been a huge aspect of Jodi’s life, excelling at several sports at county level and beyond, including athletics, badminton, and field hockey.  Her athleticism led her to have trials and was on the verge of signing as a goalkeeper for Chelsea Ladies in 2001.

Due to an accident shortly after her trial, Jodie became a below-the-knee amputee.  Despite this, her nature and passion for sports never wavered, and she was determined to find a way back into sports.

Jodie started playing sitting volleyball, becoming a member of the GB volleyball team, and has since participated in six European Championships, five World Championships, and represented Great Britain at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

In late 2022, Jodi was invited to play for GB women’s sled hockey team, the first programme of its kind in the UK, traveling to Greenbay, USA, participating in the Women’s’ World Challenge, the inaugural women-only competition, and team GB goaltender.

Following on from the success in Greenbay, Jodie was invited to join the men’s GB programme, which led her to be selected for the World Para Ice Hockey Pool-C Championships in Bangkok in December 2022, where she was one of four women on the team, a first for any men’s team on the international stage, playing four games, without conceding and coming away with a Gold medal and promotion to Pool-B
